24-year-old man dies on party bus

As graduation season starts to wind its way into summer wedding season many people are busy attending parties to celebrate. Bachelor and other parties are supposed to be a time to let loose and have some fun, but the situation can quickly turn tragic when everyone hits the road.

Trying to plan ahead and create a safe event some party organizers arrange for transportation so that their guests will not have to drive. But even when a party has a 'party bus' with a sober driver tragic accidents can occur. Recently a man riding on a party bus was involved in an accident which claimed his life.

The tragic accident happened on I-94 near Van Dyke Avenue on the east side of Detroit. The 24-year-old resident apparently opened an emergency window on the ceiling of the moving bus and stuck his head out. He became severely injured when his head slammed into a bridge abutment. He was transported to St. John's Hospital in Detroit where he died later that evening.

A party bus like the one in which the man was a passenger can hold up to 30 people. A number of fatal accidents involving passengers on party buses have also happened recently. These accidents include three men who were thrown out of moving buses in two separate incidents after bus doors allegedly opened unexpectedly.

Area police investigators are trying to determine why the man stuck his head out the emergency hatch in addition to other details of the accident.
