Michigan truck driver pulled from burning semi

A Michigan truck accident called for heroic action from one driver. At about 4:30 in the morning a printing press operator who had been working the overnight shift was on his way home from work. Less than a hundred yards in front of him as he drove down the interstate, a semi trailer collided with a flatbed truck that had been abandoned on the edge of the Interstate.

The press operator stopped his ford pickup about 75 feet from the burning wreckage and ran up to see if he could help as several other cars simply drove by the fiery truck crash. The semi had been transporting cases of Crown Royal whiskey. When the fire reached the load the cases began to explode.

The truck driver was engulfed in flames by the time the press operator was able to reach him. He had to tackle the truck driver to the ground when he reached him because he was completely surrounded by the flames. He pushed him down onto the median and used a T-shirt to extinguish the flames while t rescue teams were on the way.

The truck driver is listed in critical condition but would not have been likely to survive the inferno that followed the crash without the selfless acts of this printing press operator. The press operator mentioned that he gave his number to rescue workers and is hoping to hear that the truck driver is recovering well.

Local law enforcement officials continue to investigate the accident and were searching for the driver of the flatbed truck that was abandoned on the side of the road.
