Semi-truck driver dead after colliding with grocery store

The driver of a semi-truck has died after his tractor-trailer crashed into a Kroger grocery store in Ontario. The victim's employer was shocked upon hearing of the fatal accident, explaining that the man was one of his company's safest drivers.

Police reported that the driver may have been cut off by another vehicle, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and veer off of the highway. The truck, which was carrying a load of empty soda cans, then flew over an embankment and struck one of the grocery store's brick walls.

The truck's large size and heavy weight caused significant damage to the store upon impact. The speed at which the truck was traveling at the time of the collision has not yet been determined. The driver suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was taken to the county medical examiner's office. He left behind a wife and 9-year-old daughter.

Another delivery driver was in the food storage area of the store when the crash occurred. He suffered injuries as well, but they were not life-threatening.

Kroger released a statement that says that they express sympathies to the friends and family of the driver. The statement was released on the same day the store reopened. Kroger also commended the store's managers for getting employees and customers quickly and safely out of the store after the accident.
