Three injured in Monday morning crash in Michigan

Three Michigan residents were hospitalized after a car accident just after 11:00 am on Monday morning. The crash occurred just two miles east of Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park and halted traffic headed to the park while rescue and cleanup crews responded to the accident scene.

According to the Muskegon County Sheriff, a young man from Detroit was driving his Chevrolet Impala north and made a left turn at an intersection. While turning left, he crossed into the path of a southbound Dodge Pickup truck driven by a local woman.

Both drivers, as well as a passenger in the young man's car, were injured in the collision. The extent of the injuries was not immediately available, though the injuries were not reported to be life threatening.

Investigators are continuing to look into the exact sequence of events that led to the crash. The intersection is controlled by a stoplight. There was not an initial indication of who authorities believe to have had the right of way at the time of the accident.

Officials are attempting to locate a potential witness who stopped at the scene to render assistance to the victims. It is though that the person may be a medical professional. The potential witness left the scene once rescue crews arrived.
