Flint head-on collision kills one, injures four

According to a witness, careless driving led to a fatal head-on collision on Welch Boulevard near Dayton Street in Flint, Michigan. The fatal accident was triggered when a 58-year-old man behind the wheel of a red pickup truck started swerving, according to a witness who was driving behind the pickup truck. Traveling westbound, the truck maneuvered into eastbound lanes where it struck a mini-van that was carrying four people, all of which were men.

The accident claimed the life of the pickup driver and injured the four individuals in the van. Fellow drivers who were on the scene following the accident helped the van's occupants move from the van to a nearby stranger's home. At the home, the passengers were able to nurse their injuries. One man was bleeding from his mouth after losing his front teeth. Another man drifted in and out of consciousness while the other had a serious leg injury.

Paramedics eventually arrived at the home to treat the men for their injuries. They were all brought to a hospital. The extent of their injuries and current condition was not immediately known.

The group of good Samaritans would have aided the driver of the truck, too, but they were unable to get to him. He was pinned in the wreckage of the accident and it appeared that he had sustained fatal injuries. That fact was later confirmed by authorities.
