Head-on collision with truck kills motorist

Many times when there is a catastrophic motor vehicle crash, there is some extraneous factor which makes determining the cause easier. Often one driver was intoxicated or passing another car at a very high rate of speed. Other times though, it seems as if one of the drivers may have simply mad e a mistake. These cases may require additional accident reconstruction and investigation. A recent fatal accident in Bangor Township, Michigan took the life of a 35-year-old resident of Bay City despite no evidence of intoxication or excessive speed by either driver.

In this crash a man's 2009 Chevrolet Malibu car was reportedly struck head-on by a 1998 Dodge pickup truck. The collision occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. at Wheeler Road and Huron Road (M-14). The pickup truck was being driven by a 20-year-old male resident of Bay City, and traveling north at the time of the accident. The Malibu was heading south on Huron before making a left hand turn.

The crash caused both the car and the truck to burst into flames. Bystanders attempted to put out the fires with extinguishers obtained from nearby houses and commercial establishments. The driver of the Malibu died of injuries suffered in the crash. Michigan State Police were summoned to the scene, and the investigation into the crash presumably remains ongoing.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a nearby medical facility by emergency responders along with his 12-year-old brother and his father, who were also in the truck. The father was held at the Bay Regional Medical Center for observation, while the driver and his brother were treated for minor injuries and released.
