Michigan women escapes head-on crash alive

A violent car accident could have easily resulted in fatal injuries, fortunately instead caused only non-life-threatening injuries for one Michigan woman. A driver's lapse in concentration on the road resulted in this head-on collision, which occurred in Butler Township, Michigan.

A female driver of a Chrysler, which was heading northbound on Clarendon Road at around 2 p.m., took her eyes off the road when she reached over to the passenger's side of the vehicle. In doing so, she allowed the vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic. At the same time moment, a Ford Taurus and its female driver were heading southbound on Clarendon when the driver discovered the Chrysler heading her way. The woman tried to avoid the crash, but there was little she could do.

The vehicles clipped each other, both taking damage on the front left side of their vehicles. The Taurus received the brunt of the blow as the driver's side door caved in and the impact ripped off the front, driver's side wheel. The airbags in the Taurus deployed and emergency crews found the female driver in the passenger's seat when they arrived. Her car came to rest about 20 yards from where the cars collided. The Taurus also struck a road sign after the initial impact.

The driver was brought to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Chrysler, which caused the crash, traveled 50 yards after impact and eventually landed in a ditch. Deputies from the Branch County Sheriff's Office assisted in responding to the crash along with members of the Quincy Fire Department.

State Police continue to investigate the accident.
