2 children, 2 adults injured in Detroit bus accident

Parents in Michigan may have felt a bit uneasy putting their children on the school bus this morning after yesterday's news. Four people, two children and two adults, were taken to hospitals Wednesday after a school bus collided with another vehicle during the afternoon commute in Detroit.

According to a preliminary report, all of the injuries were minor, but this is nonetheless an example of risks we are all subject to on the roads.

Thirteen Detroit Public School students were on board the bus at the time of the accident. The bus was reportedly traveling west on Plymouth Road when it collided with a car driven by a teenager that was turning left from Meyers Road onto Plymouth.

The 17-year-old teenage driver had to be extricated from her vehicle following the collision. She was taken to the hospital for the treatment of non-critical injuries.

In addition to the two students who were taken to the hospital, numerous others were treated at the crash scene for bruises, bumps and cuts, according to news reports.

It has not been reported whether either driver in this accident will face criminal charges or civil liability.

In the aftermath of any motor vehicle accident, it is always wise for victims to seek to understand the legal process to the best of their ability. By becoming educated about one's rights, it is possible to make sure the responsible party is held accountable to the extent possible and compensation is available for any medical expenses and related costs.
