Motorcycle accidents: Deadly crash claims the life of a motorcyclist

On behalf of Bredell & Bredell | Jul 7, 2020 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

There’s no doubt that motorcycles can be a fun and exciting way to travel this time of year in the state of Michigan. However, those who travel by motorcycle are often subjected to unique dangers and risks that are not present for motorists in passenger vehicles. Motorcycles have a smaller profile and can be more difficult for other drivers to spot. This is a main factor in many motorcycle accidents. Unfortunately, since motorcyclists are exposed and minimally protected, accidents involving motorcycles have a higher chance of being fatal.

Recently, a motorcyclist lost his life in a deadly accident in Howell Township. The crash happened during the evening hours at the intersection of Grand River and Highland Road. According to reports, the motorcyclist was headed east on Grand River approaching the intersection when he was suddenly struck by a westbound pickup truck.

Police reports said the driver of the pickup truck failed to stop at the intersection, causing a violent collision. The motorcyclist was critically injured and rushed to a local hospital where he tragically died, reports said. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash. Reportedly, the intersection was closed for over three hours while authorities investigated the accident.

Drivers in Michigan should always be on the lookout for motorcycles, especially during the warmer months of the year. Those who have suffered the loss of loved ones in motorcycle accidents could benefit by seeking the services of an experienced litigator. A successful lawsuit could result in much-needed compensation to help families with medical and end-of-life expenses.
