Motorcycle accidents are more likely to be serious or fatal

On behalf of Bredell & Bredell | Aug 21, 2020 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

For many Michigan residents, motorcycles are not only a fun way to get around, they are also a way of life. During the warmer months, riding motorcycles is a popular form of recreation across the state. There’s no shortage of scenic and beautiful roads for motorcyclists to enjoy here. However, as traffic increases on Michigan roadways, so will the chances for accidents. Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents are more likely to end in serious injury or death.

Recently, a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Crawford County. The crash happened at night in the area of Lovells Road and County Road 612. According to reports, the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike after being struck from behind by another vehicle.

Reports said the motorcyclist was rushed to a local medical center with severe injuries where, tragically, he died a short time later. Police said the other vehicle fled the scene after hitting the motorcycle. Reportedly, the crash remains under investigation as police are still searching for the other vehicle.

When police find the driver who fled the scene, he or she could be facing very serious charges. Although motorcycles are fun, those who travel by motorcycle are faced with dangers that are not present for motorists in passenger vehicles. Drivers in Michigan should always stay focused and be on the lookout for motorcycles, since motorcycles are harder to spot due to their small profile. Families who have suffered the loss of loved ones due to negligence in motorcycle accidents could benefit from discussions with a legal representative. A successful lawsuit may result in monetary damages to help families with end-of-life expenses and other financial losses.
