Trial Continues for Fatal Ypsilanti Drunk-Driving Accident

The criminal murder case of a 35-year-old Ypsilanti man continues to unfold in court this week. Defendant Bradley Wayne Howard, of Ypsilanti Township, is defending charges related to a fatal drunk-driving accident that occurred last October. The five-car accident killed a mother and left her two children injured.

Car Accidents are Caused by Failure to Follow Snow-Removal Law

Michigan drivers have enough to deal with in the harsh and unpredictable Midwest winter season; the last things they need to deal with are snow and slush piles next to or atop high-speed roads and shoulders. These snow hazards are created when businesses or residents plow or shovel their driveways and parking lots.

Be Careful: Drunk Drivers Kill 80 People Each New Year's

Most people are aware of New Year's correlation to drunk driving: people go to parties and sometimes celebrate a bit too much before driving home. Michigan law enforcement catches some of the offenders (who have an awful start to the New Year). End of story, right?

Driver Fatalities in 2009: 18 percent had Drugs in System

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released new data today showing that nearly one in five drivers who died in motor vehicle accidents last year tested positive for drugs. The data shows an increase over 2005, where data showed that 13 percent of drivers who died in car accidents had detectable amounts of drugs in their system.

New Michigan Drunk Driving Law Aims to Save Lives of the Innocent

Drunk drivers should take notice. Beginning on Halloween Sunday, those driving under the influence of a blood-alcohol concentration of .17 or higher will face approximately double the current punishment under Michigan law.

Auto Accidents Are the Most Common Cause of Spinal Cord Injuries

Automobile and motorcycle accidents are the leading cause of spinal cord injuries. A spinal injury from an auto accident can occur from a sudden, traumatic blow to the spine that fractures, dislocates, crushes or compresses the vertebrae. A spinal injury can lead to inflammation and fluid in the spinal region that can cause additional damage.

Half of Traumatic Brain Injuries Caused by Auto Accidents

Your brain is soft. While many would take that statement as an insult, it's actually a simple truth: the human brain is soft, and fragile. This most important and delicate organ is protected by the fluid in which it floats inside the skull. Unfortunately, when it's violently jolted, as it can be in a car accident, traumatic brain injury can result.

Post-Accident Injury Symptoms: Which Ones are Most Common?

The violence in a car accident is almost always startling and frightening. The physical force created by the collision of heavy, moving objects can destroy cars and trucks, and much worse, cause great harm to human bodies.
